Meet Olive & Otis
Two golden retriever pups, their Mum and Dad, and one very sneaky, very friendly compass. Here's who's who before your next adventure.
Olive
Golden retriever puppy · big sister · age 7
Olive is the steady one. She's light golden with warm brown eyes, a teal neckerchief, and a teal backpack with a little compass badge clipped on. She smiles often, kneels down beside Otis whenever he needs a hand, and is never, ever angry — just endlessly patient with her little brother.
Otis
Golden retriever puppy · little brother · age 5
Otis is smaller than Olive, with a rounder face, slightly darker golden fur, a red backpack and his favourite blue baseball cap. He's very energetic and very curious — never naughty, simply excited about everything. Where Olive slows down to think, Otis is already three steps ahead, tail wagging.
Mum
Adult golden retriever
Mum wears a soft purple scarf and has the warmest smile in the family. She's the calm, comforting presence who always has time to listen, whatever the adventure of the day has been.
Dad
Adult golden retriever
Dad wears an explorer hat and a blue neckerchief. He's relaxed, a little bit funny, and always the one lugging the suitcase — the family's easygoing anchor on every trip.
The one everyone's looking for
Captain Compass
A small, smiling golden compass with a warm brass colour and a little blue scarf. He's never the main character — he's hidden somewhere naturally on every single page, tucked into luggage, flowers, bicycles or shelves. Finding him is half the fun of every Olive & Otis book!
